FAQ
A: Located on the first floor of the historic Union Hotel, the Sign of the Buck is a half block west of Lincoln Square at 29 Chambersburg Street in downtown Gettysburg.
A: There is ample street parking (don’t forget to pay your meter!) as well as a large, 24/7 parking garage located a block away at 74 East Race Horse Alley. Pro tip: Metered street parking is free after 8pm and on certain holidays. Please do not park in our lot as it is designated for use by our hotel guests.
A: We do, indeed! You may make a reservation online through Resy or by calling the restaurant at (717) 337-9251. If for some reason your party size changes or you cannot make it altogether, please contact us to let us know or update your reservation on Resy. We cannot guarantee your table if you arrive more than 15 minutes after your reservation is scheduled to begin. For large parties and on popular weekends and occasions, we may ask you to provide a credit card in order to book a reservation and may apply a per-guest fee for late cancellations or no-shows.
A: Though reservations are strongly encouraged for the dining room, we happily accept walk-ins when tables are available. Our tavern offers several seat-yourself tables, as well.
A: Our chef and his team are happy to accommodate common dietary restrictions (vegetarianism, veganism, gluten-free, non-dairy, etc.). Please note your restrictions through Resy (if you’ve made reservations) and/or with your server once you arrive. You can also reach out to us at inquiries@signofthebuck.com to discuss your dietary needs and requests in advance of your visit.
A: No, guests are encouraged to come as they are (within reason, of course!).
A. We do! Sign up for the Buck Club and receive one point for every dollar spent on food at our establishment by supplying your phone number on your receipt. Every 50 points you earn gets you a $5 credit. We also have great happy hour specials in our tavern from 4-6pm Monday-Thursday, from 9-11pm on Fridays and Saturdays, and from 2-6pm on Sundays.
A. In addition to offering cocktail and food specials on the weekends, we also feature special deals throughout the week.
On (Twofer) Tuesdays, you can get a Buck Burger and a pint of our proprietary 11-Point Pils for $15; on Wednesdays we offer deep discounts on wine (bottles and by-the-glass); on Thursdays we feature specials on oysters and bubbly; and on Sundays, snag a glass of wine and our signature steak frites for $35.
A: We are fortunate to be located in the “Fruit Belt” of Pennsylvania and use local ingredients—from beef and eggs to fruits and vegetables—whenever we can. We firmly believe that a “rising tide lifts all boats” and make it a point to support other small businesses in town so we can win together.
A: We consider requests on a case-by-case basis. Please contact us at inquiries@signofthebuck.com to begin a dialogue with us.

A: While we do not allow outside food into our establishment for safety and liability purposes, we would be happy to make you a cake for a special occasion if given at least one week’s notice. Please contact us at inquiries@signofthebuck.com to order a cake. While we don’t encourage guests to bring their own wine, it is permissible for special occasions. A $15 corkage fee will be applied per bottle. However, if the table purchases a bottle of wine from our menu as well, the corkage fee will be waived.
A: We love kids and have created a special “Young Bucks” menu just for them. Please note that we do not allow anyone under 21 to sit at our bar.
